Raja Ampat : Dive Destination at West Papua, Indonesia

As country which have more than 10.000 islands, Indonesia has great source of unique and beautiful underwater scenery. More than 10 places are worth to visit, so i have to post them one by one. From eastern Indonesia, Raja ampat is on the first from this scuba divers heaven destination list in Indonesia.

Raja Ampat is located in West Papua. Natural and compelling and unique culture make Raja Ampat special. All is still well preserved. Because people still see nature as a mother who care for and maintain them. An area of ten million hectares had seven hundred islands scattered.

For those who are avid sports underwater, Raja Ampat is the place. This areahas best coral reef in the world, and thousands of reef fish species that exist only in this region. The trip here should use a motor boat which takes about 4 hours from the city of Sorong.

There are three villages, one of them named De’er. The village is inhabited by a tribe Beteo which is the tribe who first came here two hundred years ago. No hotel or inn here. Electricity is still limited, the diesel that burns in a matter of hours. We seemed to be on the edge of a remote world.

Residents here are mostly fishermen and farmers of copra. With nature is still abundant, they will never have trouble not to mention their sensible attitude that still maintain the balance of nature.

Raja Ampat area has been preserved for thousands of years, here you can find variety of marine life which another place haven't. Among divers, Raja Ampat are very well known. Raja Ampat is located in the triangle coral reefs of the world, so not surprisingly, this region is rich with distinctive and rare coral and fish species .
